I love a waterfall & I know that many of our customers do too. The big ones are fantastic reminders of the awe-inspiring power of nature but I like the little ones you stumble upon on a walk too. With all the amazing waterfalls in the world, it was really hard to choose which ones to feature. Which is your favourite?
Victoria Falls, Zambia & Zimbabwe
Described by the Kololo people of the region as 'The Smoke that Thunders', it certainly lives up to this as the water plummets 100 feet down over the edge. These falls form a natural border between Zambia & Zimbabwe on the Zambezi river. Combine with a safari experience for an unforgettable holiday.
Iguacu Falls, Brazil & Argentina
This is one of my personal favourites having visited several years ago. Its sheer size is truly incredible with great viewing options from both Brazil & Argentina. There is nothing I've experienced quite like looking down over the Devil's Throat. The noise, the volume of water, the spray was simply awe-inspring.
I loved the boat ride too - a short nature walk surrounded by butterflies to the boarding point followed by a fun ride into the swirling, turbulent waters. Be warned you will get drenched.
Niagara Falls, Canada & USA
Lying on the border between Canada & the USA, Niagara Falls is an impressive sight. The boat trip is lots of fun in the summer months. In the winter, its replaced with the Journey Behind the Falls.
I visited on a day trip from Toronto but its worth spending at least a night here to witness the nightly light show.

Gullfoss Falls, Iceland
Iceland is an excellent destination all year round, not least for its waterfalls. Gullfoss Falls is the most popular, part of the Golden Circle & only a couple of hours from Reykjavik. In winter (for me), it was a magical icy wonderland frozen as if time had stopped.
There are plenty more amazing waterfalls in Iceland - Morsarfoss (the tallest), Dettifoss (the one with the most water), Seljalandfoss (the one you can walk all the way round) for starters.
Bridal Veil Falls, New Zealand
These falls are about 1 hr drive from Hamilton on the North Island & worth adding to your itinerary. With a drop of 55 metres, the viewpoints offer amazing views over native forest below. Walk to the base for a scenic view of the falls themselves.
New Zealand is home to many more falls including Bowen Falls (in Milford Sound), Marakopo Falls (also near Hamilton), Huka Falls (near Taupo) & Devils Punchbowl Falls (in the Arthurs Pass National Park).
Kuang Si Waterfall, Laos
Another of my personal favourites! This spectacular waterfall cascades down into gorgeous turquoise pools. A trek to the top is worth the effort but the best bit is swimming in the pools. You can get here from Luang Prubang in about an hour.
