3 nights in Singapore
My family & I have recently returned from a wonderful holiday starting with 3 amazing nights in Singapore. What an incredible destination! Here is what we got up to:
Getting to the city
We took the MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) from the airport with a quick change, across the platform in about 40 mins. For less than £2 each, its great value. It is not possible to buy single or return tickets anymore, so will need to swipe your Mastercard or Visa card at the barrier. We needed to use another card for our son so make sure you have another card available if you are travelling with children. If you are likely to be using the MRT a lot, it is possible to buy a Singapore Tourism Pass for unlimited travel for 1, 2 or 3 days.
Swissotel The Stamford
Our first hotel was the Swissotel, less than 1 min from the MRT station. The check in process was easy, we were greeted on arrival & were in our room before we knew it. On the 51st floor, our view overlooking the bay & the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel was impressive.
As we were celebrating birthdays, a chocolate mousse cake was provided in our room which was delicious & so moreish. It didn't take long before that was gone!
Waking up on Day 2, it was pouring with rain but by the time, we'd breakfasted & were ready to leave it had dried up. We did debate walking to our next hotel but soon decided that would be madness - its really hot!. A taxi was a much better choice.

Marina Bay Sands
The absolute highlight of our trip was our 2 nights of luxury at the MBS. We loved the view of Singapore from the rooftop as well as swimming in the incredible infinity pool. Read our hotel review.
Cycling Interlude
My husband, a keen cyclist. was delighted to hear that our trip coincided with the Tour de France Criterium & Mark Cavendish's last ever race. We loved watching him cross the line in 1st place & the medal ceremony where his illustrious career was celebrated. Catching the flowers thrown by 2nd place Philipsen was an added bonus!
The Jewel
This aptly named attraction is so good we went twice! The centre piece waterfall is incredible but the lush greenery everywhere you looked really makes the experience. We checked in at Terminal 4 on our departure & took the free shuttle bus to Terminal 1. It drops you off right outside so its really easy & we had plenty of time to get back for our flight.
On the subject of the airport, it was clean, efficient & quick, it was such a pleasure to travel through. If only all airports were like this!
