Copán Ruins is a magnificent Mayan site & a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known as the Paris of the Mayan World. Discovered in 1570, this ancient city was abandoned at the start of the 10th Century AD. Today, visitors explore temples, pyramids, several plazas & a ball court, surrounded by jungle. Highlights include the impressive Hieroglyphic Staircase, the intricate carvings & the wild Scarlet macaws (the national bird of Honduras).
We recommend a visit to the Tea & Chocolate Place, a peaceful hilltop escape offering artisan chocolate & unique tea blends with stunning views. This local experience is not only a delight but supports the local environment too.
