Magical St Lucia has tropical rainforests, volcanic mud baths & sandy beaches. The mighty Pitons, a UNESCO world heritage site overlooks this gorgeous piece of Caribbean paradise. I personally visited a few years ago & I highly recommend a visit.
Choose to relax by the pool or on the beach at one of the many world class resorts or get out on the water snorkelling, diving or kayaking. We recommend venturing beyond the beach for the local experience as well as adventure.
From the golden sands of the north to the silvery ones of the volcanic southwest, there are plenty of beautiful beaches. Our favourites are:
Anse de Pitons
Situated between the Pitons & overlooked by Sugar Beach resort, this white sand beach is one of the most stunning in all of the Caribbean. You don't have to be staying at Sugar Beach, its open to all (as are all the beaches in St Lucia)
Grand Anse
Enjoy more than 1 mile of gorgeous beach at this less-visited beach, you may even have it to yourselves. From March to November, join a local tour to see the leatherback turtles laying their eggs & learn more about their conservation.
Anse Chastanet
The reef of the same name sits just off shore & its a great spot for snorkelling. The area is roped off from boat so its only snorkellers & divers enjoying the clear water & teeming marine life. Even if you aren't snorkelling, you get to relax on this gorgeous palm lined stretch of beach.
The underwater world offers an environment equally beautiful as above the water. Amongst the coral reefs, snorkellers & divers are rewarded with a multitude of colourful fish. You may even be able to spot a turtle or an octopus or two.
Snuba, is available here, a great way to experience diving without the certification. If you'd prefer to keep your head dry, sea helmets mean you don't have to miss out on an underwater experience.

Rodney Bay has a wide variety of restaurants offering everything from the local Creole & Amerindian fare to Italian or Mexican.Seafood is as you can imagine very popular all over St Lucia. We recommend visiting Anse La Raye for the Fish Fry for amazing freshly caught seafood & a fun atmosphere.
Friday night is also time for the weekly Jump Up at Gros Islet. This popular street party is a delight for all the senses - makeshift bars appear, the sound of the sizzling & the delicious smells from the multitude of BBQ vendors & of course, the music which keeps the party going into the early hours.
Its easy to spend all your time at the beach, relaxing by the pool, or out on or in the water. We do recommend venturing further afield to experience more though:
We recommend visiting from late November to February with temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees centigrade.
