Why Albania should be on your bucket list

Only 30 mins by ferry from Corfu (or a direct flight from the UK) & you’ll find yourself in beautiful Albania. The mountain peaks, crystal clear waters & beaches that would not be out of place in the Maldives are reason enough to visit but there is plenty more. With fewer visitors than its neighbours, Albania offers adventure, relaxation & culture at affordable prices.

The Albanian Riviera so-called for its white sandy beaches & inviting turquoise seas. You can relax in the sun in style or get out in or on the water - kayaking, snorkelling or diving. Visit Ksamil or Sarande if you are looking for more of a resort experience or for a quieter experience, we suggest Palasë or Borsh beaches.    

It is not just beaches & city though, the Albanian Alps offers spectacular mountain peaks, hillside villages & activities like hiking in the summer months & skiing in the winter months. With canoeing & fishing available on the river as well, there is no shortage of activities to get out & enjoy the fresh air.  

We recommend a visit to the UNESCO World Heritage site of Butrint, the largest archeological park in Albania. A great place to get a glimpse of the past including Albania's Greek, Roman & Venetian influences.   

When is the best time to go?  

We recommend visiting in May, Jun or September with average temperatures in the mid to high 20's. 

Is it expensive?

No, in fact it’s one of the best value destinations in Europe. At time of writing, a cappuccino costs approx. £2, a domestic beer about £3 & a 3 course meal for two in a mid-range restaurant is around £35 .
